Calling Cards and Memento Mori...

I recently purchased the cutest little skull card case from Sugar Kitty.

Ain't it skeletally sweet?

What lady would ever consider being without her calling cards? And she must have an appropriate case to carry them in, no?

I would like to note for the record, that tho' I'm pleased that the availability of skull embossed items has sky-rocketed in the last few years, my own sense of superiority must make it clear that I have been collecting skull items for years, since I was a tot in Mexico and first introduced to the artifacts surrounding El Dia de Los Muertos. One of my most prized possessions is a life-sized teal colored clay skull with blazing orange eyes that I purchased when I was eleven. So while I'm happy to have company in the bandwagon, I've been on it for quite some time. Memento Mori, who-hoo.

(BTW, Madama Sugar Kitty makes other delectably ghoulishly cute things, and I gotta love a store whose motto is "sweet as sugar, tough as nails." My sentiments exactly.)

Ooh, that is cute! And very writing-appropriate. :) Good timing for me to read, too (she said selfishly) - Patrick & I just got cute little MOO cards in the mail, and I've been wondering how to carry them around. Shopping for a card case sounds like fun...

Cards are good. The best (non-skill) advice I ever got as an new writer was to get calling cards, and not to be shy handing them out. When you are in a social setting, meeting lots of people, whipping out a calling card ensures that they'll remember your name later...It's extremely useful and I am always surprised when people don't have cards...And of course any excuse to collect more cool stuff like card cases is good! But what are MOO cards?

They're adorably tiny calling cards (and designing them feels like wonderful procrastination)! I discovered them at Wiscon, actually, when Haddayr Coppley-Woods whipped hers out and a whole room full of writers started cooing over them as if they were unusually beautiful babies - they're just that cute. (And okay, writers are just that weird...but still!) You can see the website here. They print in packs of 100, and you can use as many photos or images as you like - so I uploaded 3 photos and got about 33 cards of each. The great thing is, you can justify them as a business expense but then croon over them gleefully when they arrive...

Ah yes, those little cards. Snurri had them at Wiscon...and we cooed over them when he whipped them out, too...the cards are super cute. Maybe Bothwell needs some with his picture on them...!

Oh, yes, definitely. I think he deserves his own calling cards, don't you? ;p

A gentleman *should* have cards, of course. I'll have to see what I can do to rectify that lack...!

I, of course, have cards, though I generally forget to bring them to any event where they could prove useful . . .

I also have a supercool new bathing suit that features . . . SKULLS!

Where would Bothwell carry them? If we as a nation can invent the murse, surely we can build the durse.

Bothwell doesn't carry stuff. He has a manservant to do that. I wonder who that would be, hmmm?
